Manglik

Manglik is the term for a Vedic birth chart in which Mars (Mangal) sits in one of a set of houses counted from the Lagna, most often the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th, with some traditions also counting the 2nd. Classical texts link the placement to friction in marriage, but they also list many cancelling conditions, so it is a factor to weigh rather than a verdict.

Manglik is also called Mangal Dosha, Kuja Dosha or Bhauma Dosha (Kuja and Bhauma are other names for Mars), and in Devanagari is written मांगलिक; the words Manglik and Mangal Dosha are used interchangeably. It is not Sade Sati (a Saturn transit) and not Bhakoot or Nadi Dosha, which come from comparing two charts.
